Welcome to My Site!
Imagine a steel cage match between Sevendust, Coldplay, and Foo Fighters, with Joe Satriani as the referee and you will begin to develop an image that defines the core sound of Barry French, or "Big Blue" as his friends call him.
Barry began his musical journey as a drummer, playing every Sunday at his local church. Soon after that, he began learning the guitar and he never looked back.
After many years of playing live shows Barry decided to focus solely on writing music for film and television. During the transition period, he landed his first cut as a songwriter, getting four co-writes with the independent artist Eowyn for her third album, produced by Grammy nominated producer, Travis Wyrick. The first single "Silent Screams" made it's way to #17 on the National Rock and Radio Christian Rock charts.
In early 2009, Barry signed his first publishing deal with a music library and soon after that the placements began to follow. Shows such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Dr. Oz Show, The Nate Berkus Show, Parental Control (MTV), Fantasy Factory (MTV), and Duck Dynasty (A&E), to name a few. Barry also landed the main title themes for three shows - In The Bedroom with Dr. Laura Berman, It's A Brad, Brad World, and Don't Trust Andrew Mayne (co-writer).
In addition to writing music for production libraries, Barry also contributed to the score of some small independent films as well being the composer for the independent film, Decision, staring Natalie Grant and Billy Dean.
