Artist Projects
In addition to composing music specifically for Film and Television, Barry also writes and releases music for a variety of studio projects: Big Blue Barry, Big Blue Shoes, and Crushing Gray. Though none of these projects perform live, they allow Barry to channel his creativity and explore different sonic territories, capturing the energy and emotion of live performance from the studio.
Big Blue Barry is his solo artist's name whose musical influences can be summed up as follows: Imagine a steel cage match in Rupp Arena between Sevendust, Coldplay, and Foo Fighters, with Joe Satriani as the referee. That's the sonic spectrum of sounds that Barry likes to create on his own, trying to strike a balance between catchy and sometimes intense riffs while also striving for melodic depth.
Big Blue Shoes is a pop/rock/alternative band consisting of Barry and Joel Shoemake. Their influences range from Blink 182, Counting Crows, and Matchbox Twenty to Steven Curtis Chapman, TobyMac, and DC Talk.
Crushing Gray is a hard rock/metal band consisting of Barry and Logan Rayne Pepper. Their influences range from Breaking Benjamin, Metallica, and Thirty Seconds to Mars to Creed, Nickelback, and Alter Bridge.
